About this role

Flagship Culinary Services is hiring a Pastry Sous Chef to join the team supporting employee cafes for the largest social media company. The fast-paced, diverse pastry program puts collaboration and learning at the forefront. Supervise a small team while overseeing daily production and managing the on-site pastry program for one or more cafes.

Provide the best customer service in a courteous, fast and efficient manner, accommodating all guest and client requests. Develop and test recipes, new techniques, and create daily internationally influenced pastry menus. Produce a variety of sweet and savory pastries including cupcakes, cakes, pies, torts, flans, custards, and vegan desserts.

Manage a small team to ensure pastries and desserts meet quality and production goals. Communicate effectively with vendors, management, and staff for efficient operations. Maintain a clean, organized workspace following OSHA, HACCP, and health department safety and sanitation guidelines.

Mentor and coach team members on best practices, training them for higher positions while setting the tone for collaboration and morale. Work Monday-Friday with weekends off in a supportive environment. Enjoy free meals and snacks during shifts at high-quality employee cafes.

Requirements

  • Excellent baking skills and knowledge of international pastries and desserts
  • Experience with from scratch production, menu planning and recipe development
  • Strong communication, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Sense of urgency and ability to work and lead a team within a safe manner
  • Minimum 4 years of pastry experience
  • Culinary school graduate or college degree
  • Active Food Handlers Card as required by the California Health Department
