Labor-oriented position primarily responsible for food preparation for guests in the restaurant according to Potomac Family Dining Group and Applebee’s brand standards. Line Cooks focus on delivering high-quality meals through precise execution of recipes and presentations. This role demands attention to detail in a fast-paced kitchen setting.

Day-to-day tasks include completing assigned prep work, setting up cook stations, and preparing menu items per Applebee’s recipes and plate presentations. Maintain product quality, cook times, and safe food handling practices throughout shifts. Clean and organize work areas while managing inventory with FIFO method.

Work in a team-oriented environment with no supervisory responsibility, performing utility tasks like dishwashing, trash removal, and equipment sanitation. Handle physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods in hot, damp conditions with loud noises. Respond quickly in emergencies to ensure safety.

Requirements

  • 18+ years old
  • Prior kitchen work experience preferred
  • ServeSafe Food certificate a plus
  • High School Degree or GED preferred
  • Reading, writing, basic math, and verbal communication skills required
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Friendly and engaging demeanor
  • Ability to be a team player and follow manager instructions

Responsibilities

  • Completes all assigned prep work and sets up cook station according to station
  • Prepares all menu items according to Applebee’s recipes and plate presentations
  • Maintains product presentations, product quality, and cook times
  • Practices safe and sanitary food handling at all times
  • Cleans and sanitizes the work area before, during, and after shifts
  • Effectively manages inventory using FIFO and controls food waste
  • Temps all food items per standards and receives incoming food
  • Clocks in tickets and assures ticket cook times meet company and brand standards
