About this role

Responsible for decorating bakery items at Hy-Vee. Assist customers with bakery orders by telephone and in person at the store. Ensure a positive company image through courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.

Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions. Take customer orders at the bakery counter and answer the telephone promptly. Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner, learning their names whenever possible.

Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment. Check orders for the day, set up production schedules, and decorate bakery items in a timely manner. Communicate daily with the bakery manager regarding displays, weekly ads, and special needs.

Keep current on new designs and trends while ensuring department standards are met. Participate in employee cross training and operate as a lead worker, instructing and reviewing work. Practice proper sanitation procedures to keep the work area clean and neat.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience
  • Takes customer orders at Bakery counter and answers the telephone promptly including taking product orders
  • Decorates bakery items in a timely manner
  • Checks cake orders for details including size, deco pack, icing needs, dates and indicates supply needs
  • Orders supplies for decorating area
  • Delivers product and sets up wedding cakes on site outside the store
  • Develops bakery orders for bakers on a daily basis including cakes and sizes
  • Participates in employee cross training and operates as a lead worker
