During off-peak hours, the Utility Worker assists with other kitchen-related tasks such as stocking food and sanitation duties. Key responsibilities include cleaning dining room and kitchen dishes, recycling, boxes, trash, sweeping, and mopping. They consistently practice hand washing, proper food storage, and maintaining food temperatures.

In this healthcare environment, workers follow federal and state long-term care regulations plus Dietary Department policies. They clean and sanitize utensils and food preparation areas after use according to schedules. Safety, infection control, and emergency procedures are practiced per facility policies.

Physical demands involve lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs occasionally, moderate vision constantly, and manipulating equipment throughout the facility. Good interpersonal skills support courteous communication with guests, team members, and personnel. Dependability ensures meeting schedule requirements with attendance and punctuality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
  • One year related experience and/or training in sanitation (preferred)
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to move and manipulate various food products, dietary supplies, and equipment
  • Responsible for upkeep and sanitation of kitchen and dining room
  • Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Carry up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Moderate vision constantly

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
  • Clean dining room and kitchen dishes
  • Perform sanitation duties of recycling, boxes, trash, sweeping, and mopping
  • Assist with stocking of food and food rotation-FIFO
  • Practice key sanitation procedures including hand washing, proper food storage, and food temperatures
  • Clean and sanitize utensils and food preparation areas after use
  • Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies
  • Follow safety, infection control, and emergency procedures
